What Kaylee Teaches

Kaylee competes in Professional Latin, but she teaches the full ballroom curriculum. Students come to her for everything from a wedding waltz to a national-level competitive routine.

  • Smooth & Standard — Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep
  • Rhythm & Latin — Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Swing, Bolero, Mambo, Jive, Paso Doble
  • Social & Nightclub — Salsa, Hustle, Nightclub Two Step, and the partner dances that actually come up at weddings, receptions, and parties

Her teaching is built on three things: strong fundamentals, expressive artistry, and technique a student can repeat without her in the room. She breaks complicated actions into clean, bite-sized mechanics first, then layers on musicality, styling, and performance quality.

Choreography

Ballroom is Kaylee’s foundation, but it is not the whole vocabulary. Years of ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, and hip-hop sit underneath the ballroom technique — and that range is what people are actually hiring when they ask her to choreograph.

Wedding First Dance

Every couple arrives in a different place. Some have danced before; most have not. Some want a two-minute showstopper; some want ninety seconds of looking confident and comfortable while everyone watches.

Kaylee starts with a conversation rather than a routine: what is your experience, what do you want this moment to feel like, and honestly, how much time do you want to spend rehearsing between now and the wedding? From there she builds to fit — the song, the room, the dress, the shoes, and the two people actually dancing it. A clean, unfussy waltz done well beats an ambitious routine that falls apart under the lights.

We worked with Kaylee for our first dance at our wedding. She was more than accommodating with our schedule and was extremely thoughtful about the steps and progressions of the dance to set us up for success. She made learning our first dance so much fun and stress-free! We felt confident, comfortable, and excited to share our first dance on our wedding day. We couldn’t recommend her more.

Competition Routines

For Pro-Am students preparing to compete, Kaylee choreographs routines around what that specific dancer does well — not a stock pattern handed to everyone at the same level. Having spent years on the competitive floor herself, she builds with the judging in mind: what reads from the side of the ballroom, where the risk is worth taking, and where a cleaner choice scores better than a harder one.

Showcase Pieces

Showcase is the no-rules side of the studio year. No syllabus, no judging sheet — just students performing and showing how far they have come. It is where Kaylee’s non-ballroom training shows up most: contemporary lines, jazz phrasing, hip-hop texture, theatrical staging, whatever the piece and the dancer call for. What is your passion? Sci-Fi, Broadway, sports, rock and roll — Kaylee enjoys collaborating with her students on their interests and crafting the perfect showcase performance.
